How to read your electricity bill (without losing your mind)

The Italian electricity bill is divided into four main blocks. **1. Energy cost.** This is the only item where the provider actually sets the price: it includes the cost of the energy consumed (€/kWh) and a fixed sales fee. When comparing two offers, compare this. **2. Transport and meter management.** This goes to the distributor and is the same for every provider: switching does not change it. **3. System charges.** Items set by ARERA, identical for everyone. **4. Taxes and VAT.** Excise duties and 10% VAT for domestic use. Practical tip: on the second page you'll find your annual consumption in kWh and the detailed price of the energy component.
